First Iranian

Music Festival

The inaugural Iranian Music Immersive Festival in Sydney, a groundbreaking event organised by Cozystage and artistic director Shervin Mirzeinali, celebrated the vibrant tapestry of Iranian musical heritage on October 22, 2023, at the North Ryde School of Arts.

Honouring sixteen exceptional Iranian musicologists, composers, and scholars who have left an indelible mark on the post-Dastgah era's musical landscape, the festival provided invaluable resources for music enthusiasts, inspiring them to delve deep into the intricate and rich world of Iranian music.

The festival also endeavoured to introduce the evolving Iranian musical mindset to Australian communities, promoting a profound appreciation for cultural diversity and artistic expression. In addition to an insightful exhibition, the festival offered a diverse lineup of six music performances, all deeply rooted in Iranian musical traditions.

Featuring over 40 musicians and artists, these performances showcased the diversity and multifaceted nature of Iranian music, as well as innovative approaches that bridge cultures and genres, inviting audiences to explore new musical horizons
